'moments'. Care moments for infant and toddler are gentle, intimate, and playful interactions between the primary caregiver and child during feeds, sleeps, and diaper changes.

We begin to introduce academics at this age through a simple circle time, and daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for the children in the group.  Circle times will be kept short and include songs, stories and movement activities. All activities are voluntary and based on the interest of the children.  We introduce new skills during play and exploration of the environments. We purposefully set up the classroom for language, math, science, large motor, and small motor activities to be available for the children to explore each day. We repeat and change activities as the children are interested to encourage mastery of skills.  . 

Classroom teachers will write a lesson plan each week that includes what is changing in the centers that week, all activities for the day and a plan for circle time. When planning, activities will be skill based and always based on the interest of the children. An example of this would be, if a toddler was excited every time bubbles happened and found the bubbles on picture books the teacher will include activities with making bubbles(science), blowing bubbles(spacial awareness), and washing babies with bubbles in the sensory table.
